Johann & Anna is a stylish retreat in western Styria for people who want to escape the accelerated pace of everyday life and arrive back with themselves. It grew out of an old mill in Stainz that I developed into five individually designed apartments — they combine historic character with modern comfort and create a sense of shelter. Guests are attentively looked after while still having the freedom to shape their time exactly how they need it.

Surrounded by the calm of the Styrian countryside, it's a special setting for personal time off, quality days as a couple, or select retreats. The focus isn't an elaborate program, but the soothing atmosphere of a place where silence is tangible and new energy can grow.

Between arriving and the sound of the stream

Before you've even unpacked, you can already hear the water. The stream is simply part of the idyll around Johann & Anna in Stainz. Later, maybe a bottle of wine cools in it. Maybe there's some fishing. Maybe nothing happens at all — and that's exactly what feels so good here: a vacation with nothing you have to do, yet the feeling that everything is exactly right.
