Ten sentences on a book page are quickly skimmed. Ten images to swipe through stick better — and can be forwarded, to your partner, to your son, to the parents' group. That is why this series exists. Here are all ten, with the explanation printed on each image (the images are in German).
1. Thou shalt use technology — but not serve it.
The phone is a tool. Whoever can put it down whenever they want is using it. Whoever cannot is serving it.
2. Thou shalt tell truth from deception.
Not everything that looks good is true. Always ask: who posted this — and why?
3. Thou shalt preserve times of quiet.
Hours without a screen, every day: at meals, before sleep, in conversation. Quiet is recovery, not idle time.
4. Honour your parents — and parents, be role models.
Children do not do what we say, they do what we do. Whoever scrolls at dinner cannot demand anything else.
5. Thou shalt rob no one of their joy in life.
Online you do not see the reaction. What you would not say to someone's face, you do not write either.
6. Preserve genuine relationships.
500 followers do not replace one friend who calls when you are down. Real people first, then the rest.
7. Do not steal time.
Every message takes someone's attention. Constant availability is not a duty — for anyone.
8. Be honest.
On the web it is easy to be someone else. Whoever appears online the way they do in life has nothing to keep track of.
9. Do not constantly compare yourself with others.
The web shows the best five seconds of other people — and you compare them with your whole day. Let it go.
10. Never forget to be human.
Behind every profile sits a human being. And above all stands the golden rule: treat others the way you want to be treated.
